Dynamic Segmentation

The solution isn't to physically divide the pipeline into segments — it's to be able to define multiple, independent segmentation layers on the same pipeline . This concept is called dynamic segmentation, and it's the foundation of Minerva Linear Asset Management.

Different layers can be defined simultaneously on the same pipeline: one segmentation by material type, another by year of installation, a third by soil type, and a fourth by maintenance responsibility area. The boundaries of the segments do not have to coincide.

The layers are independent of each other. Material segmentation is not affected when the ground information is updated; the line's technical data remains unchanged when the maintenance zone changes.

This system allows you to directly ask a question like , "How many malfunctions have occurred in the last three years on the sections laid in 1998 that cross the river?" The classical approach doesn't have an answer to this question.
