Scope
Automated generation of label elements: Product identifier, supplier information, pictograms, signal word, hazard and precautionary statements, nominal quantity.
Selection of precautionary statement: From all applicable statements, those to be included on the label must be selected and simplified according to regulations. Maintaining readability on the label is a regulatory requirement.
Labeling by packaging size: Application of exception rules for small packages; management of folding label and minimum font size requirements.
Multilingual labeling: Production of labels in the official language of each export market; management of situations requiring multiple languages on the same label.
Supplementary information: Additional hazard statements, unique formula identifier, packaging to prevent access by children, and tactile warning requirements.
Transport classification: Determination of UN number, transport class, packaging group, appropriate shipping name and transport labels; management of differences between land, sea and air transport.
Storage compatibility: Checking which substances cannot be stored together according to regulations.
Label version: Tracking which batch was released with which label version; critical information in case of a recall.
In the real business world
Labeling errors are one of the most costly mistakes in the chemical industry. A shipment carrying the wrong pictogram may be stopped at customs, rejected by the customer, or subject to administrative sanctions. Moreover, the error usually stems not from ignorance, but from an update getting stuck somewhere : the recipe has changed, the classification has been updated, but the label template at the printing press remains outdated.
Generating the label directly from the classification data eliminates this disconnect.
