The EmS Manual contains guidance on Emergency Response procedures for ships carrying hazardous goods, including Emergency Schedules (EmS) to be followed in the event of incidents involving Dangerous Goods, materials or substances regulated under the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code) or harmful substances (marine pollutants).
The purpose of the EmS Manual is to provide guidance for combating fires and spills (leaks) on ships containing dangerous goods listed in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code).
The EmS provides information about what to do in the event of an incident involving certain dangerous goods.
Goods included in the EmS are classified according to the IMDG Code and grouped so that goods requiring the same or similar emergency action appear in an emergency schedule.
In Minerva, "Codes" and "General Comments" for EmS are listed as system standards under the "IMDG Emergency Programs - EmS" menu.
According to their type (fire or spill), definitions are made for each code on the "IMDG Emergency Program - EmS Information" screen.
