Pictograms, which may include a symbol plus other graphic elements such as a border, background pattern, or color, are designed to convey specific information. Pictograms defined under the "Environment, Health, and Safety Definitions" menu are assigned to chemical products and used in SDS structures.
Besides the Hazard Statements and Precautionary Statements defined in the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), certain other statements may be required to create an SDS and GHS labels.
Hazard Introductions
Hazard Identification means a statement assigned to a hazard class and category that describes the nature of the hazards of a hazardous product, including the degree of hazard where appropriate.
Descriptions for physical, health and environmental hazards (Hazard Identifications) begin with the letter H and the number next to the H indicates the type of Hazard:

"3" for health hazards
"4" for environmental hazards
Precautionary Statements
A precautionary statement is a statement that describes recommended precautions that should be taken to minimize or prevent adverse effects from exposure to a hazardous product or recommended precautions for improper storage or handling of a hazardous product.
Precautionary statements begin with the letter P, and the next number after the P indicates the type of statement, as follows:
