Multichannel Performance and Profitability Analysis

Evaluate sales results not just by channel revenue, but also by considering customer, service, and real contribution dimensions.

In a multi-channel structure, measuring performance solely by channel-based revenue can be misleading. A customer might discover a product on one channel, purchase it on another, and receive service through a third. Therefore, attributing the entire contribution of sales to a single touchpoint is not always accurate.

Performance management should evaluate sales, discounts, costs, inventory, customer, order, delivery, return, and service data together.

Commercial performance indicators

  • Gross sales, net sales, and sales volume.
  • Gross profit, contribution margin, and net channel profitability.
  • Average order and basket value
  • Conversion rate and conversion from quote to order.
  • Customer acquisition and retention performance
  • Repeat purchases and customer lifetime value
  • Product, category, channel, and customer segment performance.
  • Discount and campaign activity

Operational performance indicators

  • Stock accuracy and salability rate
  • Inventory turnover rate and inventory aging
  • Order fulfillment rate
  • Timely and complete delivery
  • Order turnaround time
  • Cancellation, refund, and damage rates
  • Delivery and installation service level
  • Service and logistics cost per order

Evaluate the cross-channel customer journey.

The analysis should not only show the final purchase channel. It should evaluate how contacts such as product discovery, store visits, offers, call center interactions, digital interactions, and purchases contributed to the customer decision.

Create a common language for performance.

When channel managers are evaluated solely on their own sales results, cross-channel collaboration can weaken. Shared indicators such as customer satisfaction, overall profitability, inventory efficiency, and service level help the organization work towards the same goals.

Measure how channels contribute to the customer and the overall company performance together, not how they compete with each other.
